Dr. Alexandre Rasouli, M.D.

Alexandre Rasouli, M.D. is a nationally-recognized, board-certified spine surgeon who specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical management of cervical, thoracic and lumbar disorders of the spine, degenerative disorders, spinal trauma, adult and pediatric deformity, spinal oncology and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Rasouli gained prominence in the field of spinal disorders after his 2007 discovery of a novel method of regenerating neurons damaged by spinal cord injury using peripheral nerve transplantation. A Stanford honors graduate with extensive training in neurosurgical and orthopedic surgery techniques, he was also the first to describe the genetic response of spinal cord tissue to traumatic injury. His research focuses on developing a cure for paralysis.

He has authored over 50 manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters and presentations in neurological and orthopedic literature. He leads many clinical trials for advanced surgical techniques, including motion-preserving and minimally-invasive surgery. His practice attracts patients from around the world.




Dr. Sonal Sodha, M.D.

Sonal Sodha, M.D. is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of diseases affecting the spine. Having completed her fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Sodha specializes in both the surgical and nonsurgical management of spinal disorders. She uses the latest evidence-based techniques and surgical innovations available for her patients, including microsurgery, minimally invasive surgery, motion preservation, and complex spine surgery. Her treatment philosophy is to evaluate each patient holistically and provide precise treatment options based on the patient’s uniquely individual goals.

Dr. Sodha attended college at MIT, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering. She then worked on numerous research studies while earning a Masters of Engineering from Harvard University and MIT in a combined program. Then pivoting to a more patient-centered role, she earned her M.D. degree from the distinguished Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Sodha completed her residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then went on to complete her fellowship training in spine surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, helping take care of patients with a wide range of complex spine pathology.

In addition to these credentials, Dr. Sodha has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented her work at national meetings. Using her background in biomedical engineering, she remains actively involved in various clinical research interests that will benefit patients. In addition, Dr. Sodha is a member of numerous orthopedic and spine societies, including North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Rasouli says 90% of all patients with back pain don’t need surgery. By trying conservative treatments first, most patients will recover. For the 10% that need surgery, Dr. Rasouli pioneered doing cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacements in an outpatient setting. That means most of his cervical and lumbar disc replacements allow patients to go home the same day as surgery. These are rapid recovery spine surgeries.
